About: Tommy Caldwell is an American rock climber accomplished in sport climbing, hard traditional climbing, big-wall speed climbing, and big-wall free climbing. Caldwell made the first free ascents of several El Capitan routes in Yosemite National Park.

To get him ready for the Dawn Wall, Tommy Caldwell set an audacious goal of climbing the hardest routes in one day at The Monastery, Colorado. The Quickening 5.13c/d; Grand Ol Opry 5.14b; Third Millennium 5.14a and Dream Catch 5.13d

Visionary climber Tommy Caldwell climbs the crux hold of pitch 15, rated 5.14c. Tommy wrote " The crux holds on pitch 15 are some of the smallest and sharpest holds I have ever attempted to hold onto". The completion of pitch 15 was considered the last major hurdle to the eventual success of the seven year Dawn Wall dream project.

The Fitz Traverse spans four miles and 13,000 feet across snow and ice covered rock with epic route finding and endless repelling. Its been coveted by many climbers and attempted by a few. Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold completed the first ascent in a five day push

Tommy Caldwell puts in four to five days a week of intenser, hours long training to stay in peak climbing shape. His routine is based on repetition and flexibility.
