HISTORY: Although climbing competitions began in the mid-1980s; one in Bardonecchia, Italy at an event called SportRoccia, held at a natural crag in Valle Stretta, where Stefan Glowacz was the winner; and the other was held on a ten-story wall at Snowbird, Utah (The First International Sport Climbing Competition), where the late Patrick Eldlinger won in spectacular style, bouldering competitions was not an official World Cup discipline until 1999.  Today, lead climbing is included in the Summer Olympics as one of the three disciplines.
